Botswana

How can you explain the fascination of this vast, dusty continent, whose oldest roads are elephant paths?

Overview.

Botswana is often regarded as one of Africa’s prime Safari destinations. Having been on Safari there myself, I can understand why! As a country the size of Texas, it’s population is only 2 million people with plenty of space for huge game reserves and large protected areas with free movement of wildlife. A safari experience here will take you from the enchanting waterways of the famous Okavango Delta to much drier, harsher landscapes of the Makgadikgadi Saltpans. As one of the oldest democratic countries in Africa, Botswana is also renowned for its safety and welcoming locals. A safari in Botswana will leave both first-time safari goers and more experienced travellers mesmerised by its landscapes, wildlife and wonderful local people.

Wildlife in Botswana

Botswana is home to large game reserves and protected areas that are inhabited by an abundance of wildlife. Home to the second largest National Park in the world and 1/3 of Africa’s elephant population, you can expect huge herds of these gentle giants as a guarantee on your Botswana Safari. The star of the show is Botswana’s Okovango Delta. Made up of seasonal and permanent wetlands and floodplains, the area is teeming with plains game, predators and birdlife. Depending on the time of year and the flood cycles, your game viewing will be from either a safari vehicle, walking with a guide or during the yearly floods on a traditional canoe [Mokoro].

TENTED CAMPS AND LODGES

Botswana’s excellent hospitality, unbeatable views and experienced safari guides make for top notch tented camps and lodges. Having been on Safari to Botswana a number of times, I will choose beautiful tented camps and lodges that I have either been to, or know well. Depending on your budget, preferences and taste we will decide on the perfect places that will give you that “barefoot luxury” feel and get the best out of your Botswana safari.
