Nyikani Camp in Tarangire National Park.
Set deep within Tarangire, one of the strong holds of huge elephant herds, Nyikani Camp is situated close to the major water sources - the Silale Swamp and Tarangire River. During the dry season, this park comes alive but worth exploring even in green season as there is always something around the corner.
Nyikani Camp, termite mound in Swahili, is set amid a grove of Acacia trees in the Southern part of Tarangire. The area sees the rhythmic movement of wildlife as it traverses the park from the hills in the west to the swamps on the eastern side, and between the north and the south along the river line.
This is a beautiful camp with eleven large tents, private bathrooms with a bucket shower and all the creature comforts, and a patio facing the park with rocking chairs and binoculars – yes, wildlife does come close by and you will be securely in your thick canvas tent.
Dining is in either under canvas in the dining area or the chef and crew may decide to place tables outside on a nice day especially during lunch time. I’ve had delicious meals at Nyikani Camp. Scrumptious soups, BBQ feast, fresh breads - all served with the best smiles.
And oh, be ready for an impromptu surprise in the evenings - not spoiling it for you.
Whenever possible, relax under the cool grass thatch of the open-sided lounge which is furnished with hides and canvas, brought to life with a touch of colorful and tactile textiles. Board games are provided as well as wildlife and bird books.
A fun gathering spot to chill.
You will enjoy your stay at lovely Nyikani Camp.
